Occupational Hygienist - Global Leader

As the Occupational Hygienist you will be responsible for maintenance and development of the Occupational Hygiene strategy on the Brimsdown and Royston sites and conducting the established monitoring programme. A demonstrable ability to identify, evaluate and implement robust control measures for physical and biologically active agents is a prerequisite for success in this role. In addition to the core Industrial Hygiene content the successful candidate will be involved is associated Environmental, Health and Safety risk management activities which will add breadth and value to the job. You will advise on legislative and industry standard requirements as they relate to Occupational Hygiene. Devising and implementing actions plans to ensure the business remains compliant with relevant legislation and standards. Whilst managing all aspects of the Occupational Hygiene monitoring and assessment programmes including undertaking workplace monitoring including, but not limited to; workplace air monitoring, noise and vibration assessment, ergonomic assessment, thermal assessment. You will lead exposure reduction initiatives and advise on appropriate control systems, contributing actively to projects to ensure Environmental, Health and Safety concerns are appropriately reflected. You will conduct incident and ill health investigations and deliver training such as COSHH Assessment, Chemical Awareness, PPE and Heat Stress. Advising on topics such as ionising and non-ionising radiation, asbestos and legionella Supervision of a dual site occupational hygiene technician will come under the Occupational Hygienist. The manufacturing businesses operate with varying levels of risk and complexity, in particular the use of large industrial, high temperature furnaces and complex plants. The successful Occupational Hygienist must have a certificate of operational competence in occupational hygiene with a high level of numeracy, working with systems, data and statistical analysis. You will have experience of working in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably within chemical, pharmaceutical or petrochemical industry. It is desirable to hold a degree in Biomedical science, Chemistry or environmental health based subjects with the ability to provide innovative solutions to problems. It would be beneficial to have a diploma of Professional Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
