HSEQ Manager - Construction

As an integral addition to this leading engineering company as an HSEQ Manager you will be responsible for construction projects London and the M25 and a workshop. An autonomous role to make your own initially addressing systems compliance coupled with site inspections across 8/ 9 projects. If you can demonstrate experience of driving through positive change then you are what our client needs. The role will be to review Health and Safety culture, maintaining accreditation compliance and looking at the Health, Safety and Quality goals of the business. Essentially there is a requirement for auditing to ISO 9001/14001 and 18001. This role requires a self-starter who is looking for a diverse HSEQ role requiring proven strong management systems knowledge, alongside construction site inspections. Essentially your Health and Safety background must demonstrate a proven track record across major build construction projects, preferably with a major contractor. Additionally, experience of preparing and planning lifting plans, accident investigation reporting, SHE site audits/inspections, risk assessments, method statements. Working autonomously you will set your own diary and schedule site visits and inspections accordingly. The clients’ projects are all around the London M25 area and the ability to communicate with clients and contractors is essential. You will be required to chair regular SHE meetings, produce SHE Bulletins, detailed HSE reports for presentation to the Board, provide SHE Performance League tables and liaise with HSE Statutory bodies. Additionally you will have responsibility for the Health and Safety of the manufacturing workshop which currently has 30 staff and has recently undergone a programme of significant investment. This position is responsible for delivering state of the art Environmental, Health and Safety systems and culture for key projects, with effective EHS systems resulting in project and contractor employees instinctively working efficiently, effectively and safely. Providing leadership, coaching and auditing of all projects sites within the sector. As the Environmental, Safety and Health Manager you will be degree qualified in a relevant subject, ideally in a technical or safety related discipline, CMIOSH or equivalent with 7-10 years industry experience. Experience in a chemicals or petrochemicals manufacturing environment, project experience and knowledge of permitting is essential. You must have experience working with highly hazardous chemicals, toxic, flammable and pyrophoric. With deep knowledge of process safety methodologies and tools e.g. Los prevention, LOPA, HAZOP, PHA, F&EI, QRA etc.. You must have significant experience of leading cultural change and building a process safety excellence culture. With experience of building and developing a high performing team and a history of setting and achieving the highest EHS standards of performance. As the EHS Manager you will collaborate with project managers and other key stakeholders to effectively implement robust EHS safety processes, systems, organisation and culture. Providing effective “upward” and “downward” communication in relation to EHS performance for the projects, trends and impending current issues. Responsible for all EHS permit application and ensuring that timelines are met and identifying any strategic risks as part of the permitting process. Interface & collaborate with subcontractors, vendors and partners to ensure EHS standards are met. Whilst maintaining a strong functional reporting line with Group EHS, ensuring Group EHS standards are maintained. Ensuring Environmental, Health and Safety requirements for construction turnkey and outages are identified and addressed during the EHS pre-planning process and through project completion. Ensure process safety risks for the projects are adequately identified and managed by following all the Group Process Safety Management policies. Health and Safety Manager - Fit-Out

If you are a dedicated and adaptable Health and Safety professional looking for your next step this is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of a truly forward thinking fit-out & refurbishment company with a real ‘family feel’ ethos. Your base must allow you to visit 2 days a week to Hertfordshire – the majority of projects will be in and around London/M25. My client is looking for a confident and innovative individual who can effectively engage and coach at site-level and with all stakeholders. The role will provide support to the project managers and teams and on occasion, project dependant, there may be a requirement as the company Safety Manager to visit projects of an evening. Project values range from £1 to £5 million and you will oversee 4 to 5 projects at any one time. The requirement is for 2 – 3 years of Health and Safety experience in a similar fit out and refurbishment environment essentially you must have worked for a Tier 2 / Sub-Contractor. You may have an early career background within Project Management, Surveying, Design or similar and are now looking to develop your Health and Safety career within a company that are committed to teamwork and developing your career as a Health and Safety professional and grow with the company. This role will find you undertaking regular site visits and conducting accident and incident investigations and site audits so experience is required. You will be required to manage and maintain ISO 9001 and possess knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation and construction site safety. You will be required to undertake Method Statements and Risk Assessments along with ensuring checking of PPE of all individuals on site. Essentially you will hold your Nebosh General or NCRQ and be looking to continue your CPD which will be fully supported. Ideally you will hold your CSCS card. Strong communication skills and excellent written are essential along with proven ability to manage your time effectively.
