A fantastic opportunity for a quality led Health and Safety professional to join division of a highly successful and family run business based on a single site close to Lancaster. This role offers excellent opportunity to develop your career within this people led company and you can be assured of a being a voice that can be heard right up to Director level. You will need to be a safety professional with gravitas and resilience who can drive a successful safety culture through teams and ensure systems and processes are adhered to consistently. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate experience within the Industrial sector with experience of confined space, plant equipment and occupational health too. You must be fully conversant with all regulatory requirements and health and safety regulations and legislation. Essentially you will have a strong background in ISO 9001 Quality Management systems with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. The preference for this role is for the successful candidate to hold a Lead Auditor qualification and to be able to demonstrate experience of 18001 and 14001. You will also need to hold a minimum of a Nebosh General Certificate and/or NCRQ equivalent Excellent communication skills are required and previous experience of engaging at all levels within an organisation and exceptional client communication will be required. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the ISO HSEQ Systems and ensuring the company’s compliance to client requirements, regulations and statutory requirements are well documented and subject to regular review and audits. Additionally the role will require: -Ensuring conformance of the Management Systems Involvement in HSEQ Management Reviews and reporting on trend analysis and improvements. -Regular audits and reviews of all safety systems and inspections -Ensuring personnel safety/equipment and checking permit to work systems are understood and adhered to -Implementation of HSEQ initiatives and training as and when required. The successful candidate will have opportunity for training in areas that require any additional development and essentially you will be required to be a UK National for this position. The successful candidate Previous experience within a Health and Safety management position within a HGV Transport distribution environment is ideal. The ability to converse with people at all levels including key stakeholders is key. You will be expected to liaise with operation managers, insurance companies and legal reps. You will be confident working in a fast paced environment with solid experience in developing and implementing H&S management systems. A proven track record in promoting positive H&S standards at a high level is required. This is the ideal position for a candidate who has strong experience in carrying out risk assessments, safety inspections, creating and delivering H&S training, routine audits and promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the business. You will have excellent engaging and influencing skills and the ability to be able to manage your own time, multi-task and prioritise. Previous experience overseeing store delivery assessments is advantageous.
